LAS VEGAS — The Metro officers involved in the February 23rd officer involved shooting which took place in the 9700 block of Grand Teton, which is near Cabot Falls and Grand Canyon, have been identified as: Officer David Reid, Officer Anton Gorup, Officer Leaareon and Officer William Marx. All four officers are currently assigned to Metro’s SWAT team.
Metro police and a SWAT team were called to an apartment complex Thursday night around 10:45 p.m. to investigate reports of a man with a gun who was kicking and knocking on doors.
When SWAT arrived, they found the man in a stairwell. SWAT officers demanded the man put down his gun, but police say he shot at the SWAT officer. That officer returned fired. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was injured.
A source close to the investigation says the gunman went around the apartment building claiming he was a police officer. The source says the gunman told officers they “wouldn’t take him alive.”
He kicked down doors, leading some people inside to panic.
As SWAT officers surrounded the apartment building, neighbors were evacuated to the main office.
This is the fourth officer involved shooting in Clark County this year.
