Lower revenues mean more cutbacks in Clark County government. Department heads are being asked to reduce their budgets for next year by nine percent, which could mean layoffs of as many as 400 people. That number will depend on whether the union representing county workers will agree to concessions. Last year, the county avoided major cutbacks by dipping into other funds. But officials say they can’t do that again. Department heads must submit their reduced budgets by March 23rd.
