Charges Dropped Against Suspects In Boy’s Abduction
Three defendants have accepted plea bargains in connection with the abduction of a Las Vegas boy nearly three years ago. In a federal courtroom Wednesday, prosecutors reached deals with the three men after a trial that lasted more than a week. Two of the suspects, Luis Vega-Rubio and Jose Lopez-Buelna, had kidnaping and related charges dropped. They, along with a third suspect, agreed to plead guilty to various other charges and will be sentenced later this year. Prosecutors claimed six-year-old Cole Puffinburger’s disappeared from his family’s home in October 2008, as revenge against his grandfather, Clemens Tinnemeyer stole more than four million dollars in drug money. But defense attorneys argued Cole’s mother and grandmother staged the kidnaping to lure Tinnemeyer out of hiding. Cole was found safe at a downtown bus stop several days later.
