Construction Workers Rally for Jobs
A group of unemployed construction workers told lawmakers in Carson City they need jobs immediately. The jobless workers told a state Senate committee Wednesday they have had to resort to low-paying temporary jobs and giving blood to make ends meet.
The testimony was part of Building Jobs Coalition Day, which is urging lawmakers to approve special bonds for construction projects in the Silver State and higher gas taxes for new roads.
Governor Brian Sandoval has proposed a program that would invest ten-million dollars to put thousands of unemployed people back to work over the next two years, while Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford is expected to unveil a plan that would create new jobs in Nevada.
