Judge’s Son Arrested In Bellagio Heist
The son of a Las Vegas judge has been arrested in connection with December’s robbery at the Bellagio hotel. The “Review-Journal” says late Wednesday night, Metro Police arrested 29-year-old Anthony Michael Carleo, the son of Municipal Court Judge George Assad. The arrest was made after Carleo allegedly tried to sell chips taken in the heist to undercover officers. Police say Carleo was a guest at the Strip resort he’s accused of robbing December 14th. Authorities say a motorcyclist entered the casino, and used a pistol to demand money from a craps dealer. The suspect made off with one-point-five million dollars in chips and rode off. It was one of the largest casino heists in recent history. According to newspaper reports and public records, Anthony Carleo was a longtime resident of Pueblo, Colorado. He was a real estate broker and owned two businesses, one co-owned with his stepfather. Judge Assad, who was appointed to the Municipal Court in 2002, is running for re-election this year.
