The well-rested UNLV Runnin’ Rebels return to action at the Thomas & Mack Center tonight against the Utah Runnin’ Utes. The Rebels (16-5 overall, 4-3 Mountain West Conference) are coming off a 74-65 win at Wyoming back on January 25th. For tonight’s game, coach Lon Kruger has re-inserted senior guard Tre’Von Willis into the starting lineup in place of senior guard Derrick Jasper. Sophomore guard Anthony Marshall, who earlier replaced Willis in the starting lineup, will remain there. Jasper has started all 20 games this season, but has battled injuries and a massive shooting slump in recent weeks. Junior forward Chace Stanback still leads UNLV in scoring at 13.1 points per game. Utah (10-11, 3-4) has struggled with inconsistent play, but has had recent success against the Runnin’ Rebels. Last season, the Utes swept both regular season meetings with UNLV, before the Rebels won the third meeting in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament. The all-time series is tied at 22-22.
Tipoff for tonight’s game is 7:30. UNLV is a 14-point favorite.
