nvenergy NV Energy Releases Explosion Report

In a statement released this morning, NV Energy is defending the company and claiming that it was not responsible for an explosion that damaged downtown businesses on July 11, 2010.

NV Energy says that the investigation determined that a natural gas leak from a third party was the cause of the explosion at the Commerce Substation. According to 8 News Now, NV Energy says it is not liable for any damages to businesses, it has offered to help pay people whose property was damaged for their underinsured or uninsured losses.

If a third party was responsible, there is no need to pay. The NV Energy is taking the position of an Insurance Company, and potentially passing the cost of that assistance on to the general public! Great PR but not in the Big picture of things.
