The man shot by a bartender at “The Lodge” restaurant at Ft. Apache and Russell Road Thursday morning has been identified.
Douglas Shaughnessy walked into “The Lodge” wearing a mask and robbed the restaurant. Police say after he left with the money, the bartender, who has a permit to carry a firearm, walked to the parking lot to jot down the license plate number on the suspect’s car.
According to 8 News Now, Shaughnessy saw the bartender and pointed a gun at him. At that point, the bartender pulled out his gun and fired off 9 shot, 4 of which hit the man in the chest. He was taken to UMC, where he underwent surgery.
Shaughnessy is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with use of a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.
