LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge in Las Vegas set a May 31 trial date for Palms Casino Resort owner George Maloof Jr.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that lawyer Wade Rabenhorst stood in for the 46-year-old Maloof at Monday’s arraignment before Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman. Maloof didn’t appear.
The charges stem from a traffic stop late Oct. 9 near Maloof’s home southwest of the Las Vegas Strip.
Maloof later told The Associated Press that he had four beers at a wedding and that his blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.086 percent.
That’s just over the legal limit in Nevada of 0.08 percent, but Maloof said he thought he was “nowhere near intoxicated.”
