raggio 385 Republican Raggio Resigns

State Senator Bill Raggio (R-Reno) has announced his retirement effective January 15, 2011.  The 84 year old citied health and mobility problems as the chief reason for his retirement.

Raggio led the state Senate as majority leader or minority leader until this past year, when the 10-member GOP Senate caucus unanimously supported Sen. Mike McGinness, , as minority leader.

This leadership shake-up came a month after Raggio endorsed U.S. Sen. Harry Reid in his re-election campaign against GOP challenger Sharron Angle.
