The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels are back in the Top 25 this week after a three-game winning streak. The Rebels (12-2) are ranked #25 in the latest Associated Press poll, released Monday morning. UNLV is just outside this week’s USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, tied with Baylor at #26. The Runnin’ Rebels were previously ranked for three weeks, rising as high as #20 in the AP poll and #19 in the coaches poll before a two-game losing streak to Louisville and UC Santa Barbara in mid-December knocked the team from both polls. However, the Rebels have since won three straight, including a win at then-#11 Kansas State back on December 21st.
UNLV opens Mountain West Conference play this Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center against #15/14 BYU. The Rebels and Cougars are two of the three Mountain West teams in the rankings, with undefeated San Diego State at #6 in both polls.
