A new Forrester Research survey shows Americans are now spending as much time on the Internet as they do watching television.
Another key finding is that people age 30 and older are devoting more time to using the Internet than they do to TV viewing, something Americans younger than 30 years old have been doing for several years. The survey also notes the amount of time people spend on the Internet has gone up more than 120-percent in the last five years. Thirty-three percent of the adults who took part in this year’s survey said they use the Internet to watch streaming online video, compared to 18 percent in 2007. Analysts say the trend poses a significant threat to cable and satellite television providers.
