Warning Issued For Gawker Media Users
A heads-up for people who use sites like Gizmodo or other sites sponsored by Gawker Media.
The company is urging subscribers to change their passwords because someone has been messing around in its user database. In a posting on its Web site, Gawker says the commenting passwords used on the sites were encrypted, but simple ones could be vulnerable to attacks by hackers’ computers. The warning is especially important if users’ Gawker passwords are the same ones used on other sites.
