Netflix will expand its already large catalog of movie and TV programming in a new agreement with the Disney-ABC Television Group.
A licensing deal is now in place between the two companies. It will allow Netflix to stream hundreds of episodes from ABC Television and Disney. For the first time, Netflix will also offer ABC Family via the Internet. Consumers will be able to access the programming with Netflix memberships starting at seven-dollars-99-cents a month. The shows and movies can be streamed instantly no earlier than 15 days after they are first broadcast. A Netflix official said the new agreement will enable the company to create “wide and diverse” content for all ages to enjoy. Among the new programming that will be offered on Netflix are prior season episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Desperate Housewives” and “Brothers & Sisters.” Netflix is the world’s largest Internet subscription service for both movies and television.
