harry reid post 3851 Reid Pushing Online Poker

Senate Majority Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is pushing for a measure that would allow poker games over the Internet.

Under terms of the measure proposed by Reid, the initial licenses would be restricted to casinos and racetrack operators that have been in business at least five years. Some of the biggest casino operators in Reid’s home state of Nevada are eager to get a piece of the online gambling industry, which generates an estimated $5 billion a year for offshore operators. Four years ago, Congress effectively banned online gambling, passing legislation that prohibits banks and credit card companies from making payments to gambling websites.

  1. Not Surprised says:

Is any one still wondering why the casino industry was busing employees to voting stations, providing “gift cards” all to back Harry

  2. PENNY GILMORE says:

I enjoy gambling, but….online could cause problems in homes where it will be played. People will become addicted and then the casinos will start to have problems…and so will our fair city of Las Vegas….less visitors, and also gambling at home and that will be a problem when there are children present….No do not think I would go for this idea….Penny Gilmore
