Holiday shopping in malls and in cyberspace is in full swing following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the biggest online shopping day of the year.
Dennis Woodside, vice president of Americas Operations for Google, says searches on Cyber Monday were higher than figures posted in 2009. He says one of the most sought-after gifts by internet shoppers has been the Squinkie, a tiny doll that makes a noise when it’s squeezed. Woodside says the toy that comes in numerous shapes has posted a 70 percent increase in search demand. For items on gift lists that don’t fall into the category of toys, electronic reading devices are extremely popular. Woodside says searches for the Nook and Kindle are up about 70 percent from last year.
