Congress has failed to extend unemployment benefits for millions of jobless workers by Tuesday’s deadline.
As a result, the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says just over ten-thousand Nevadans will have their benefits cut off during December, and even more will lose their benefits in the coming weeks unless an extension is passed. Although Nevada’s unemployment rate fell in October, it is still high at 14-point-two percent. The DETR is still urging those losing their benefits to continue filing weekly claims in case Congress approves more jobless funding.
