cyber monday13851 Retailers Encouraged Over High Online Sales

Shoppers flocked to retail websites for Cyber Monday yesterday, slowing down servers and fueling hope for retailers concerned about slow sales over the weekend. 

Retail website watcher IBM Coremetrics reports 500 retail websites saw increased sales of 20 percent yesterday as compared to last year’s Cyber Monday.  Retailers had been worried about in-store profits on Black Friday and over the weekend, which were relatively flat compared to last year.  But the National Retail Federation says the online sales picture over the weekend is encouraging, with 15 percent more people making online purchases from Thanksgiving through Sunday than last year.

    One news outlet says Black Friday was great and then another says it was “flat compared to last year.” Doesn’t anyone really know or are they just guessing?
