
A U.S. aircraft carrier is headed for an area off the Korean peninsula following yesterday’s artillery attack by North Korea on a South Korean island.
The nuclear-powered USS George Washington departed from its base south of Tokyo, Japan early this morning. U.S. officials say the vessel will engage in military exercises with South Korea and add the exercises had been planned well before the North’s attack.
