Transportation Security Administration Chief John Pistole says the agency’s new full-body scans and thorough patdowns are here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future.
Critics of the new security screening procedures at the nation’s airports are urging Thanksgiving air travelers to take part in National Opt Out Day on Wednesday. The campaign encourages passengers to opt out of getting the body scan, which produces an anonymous nude image to help detect possible explosives or weapons a passenger might be carrying. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told CBS’ “Face the Nation” she understands the need for increased air traveler security but also sees why the flying public might feel the TSA is going too far.
