Speedy Service May Result In Hefty Fines
Verizon Wireless is discussing a new fee structure for data services.
They’re considering charging customers based on the speed of their mobile data service. Verizon spokesman Peter Thonis said “We’re looking at it as a possibility but it’s not something we’ve nailed down.” Other carriers have talked about charging service fees based on the amount of data a consumer downloads to their smartphone or other portable device. Occasional web surfing would incur minimal fees but a constant connection to a music or video service could bring far higher monthly bills.
