Arguments will be heard today by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco involving Arizona’s controversial new immigration law.
The state of Arizona is appealing a ruling from Judge Susan Bolton striking down key components of the law. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer will join a team of lawyers today as they face off against the Justice Department in an attempt to reinstate the most controversial parts of SB 1070. Those sections include a requirement that police check the immigration status of anyone detained if there is a reasonable suspicion they are in the U.S. illegally.
