Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon, who is leading the nation in yards and touchdowns, has been suspended for one game following his arrest for DUI. The 20-year-old Blackmon was reportedly caught driving 92 in a 60 mile per hour zone Monday night on his way home from watching the Cowboys-Giants game in Arlington, Texas.
After pulling the car over, the officer smelled alcohol on Blackmon and charged him with driving under the influence.
“I made a mistake and I take full responsibility for it,” Blackmon said. “I am embarrassed to be in this position. I am truly sorry. To my family, to my friends, and to Oklahoma State as a whole, I look forward to redeeming myself and proving to everybody that this isn’t who I am. I am humbled by this experience and I will grow from it.”
Blackmon will not travel with the team for Saturday’s game against Kansas State.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound sophomore currently leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in yards (1,112), touchdowns (14) and yards per reception (17.94).
The Cowboys are 6-1 after a loss to Nebraska last Saturday.
