FTC Comes Down On Google "Street View"
A scolding, but not a spanking. The FTC is taking limited action against Google for collecting e-mails, passwords and other personal information transmitted over unsecured wireless networks as it put together its “Street View” service.
The regulatory agency sent a two-page letter ripping into Google for letting such sensitive information get collected without management catching on. However the Federal Trade Commission declined to punish Google for its actions.
