Jury selection begins today in Austin, Texas in the trial of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
He’s charged with illegally funnelling corporate money to help elect Republican candidates to the Texas legislature. DeLay was indicted in 2005 on charges he sent 190-thousand dollars in corporate money through the Republican National Committee to help elect GOP Texas legislative candidates in 2002. DeLay has pleaded not guilty to money laundering and conspiracy charges. He says the trial will clear him.
