Apple isn’t quite letting the “cat out of the bag” — but it’s dropping some pretty strong hints that it will make a major announcement next week about the operating system for its Macintosh computers.
The company is inviting media to its campus in Cupertino, California for an event October 20. And while Apple is known to keep its announcements secret until they’re officially released, there are some hints the news might well be OS related. The invitation sent yesterday shows an image of Apple’s logo opening like a door to reveal a glimpse of a lion. Apple calls its Mac computer operating system updates by the names of large cats. The current one is Snow Leopard and previous names included Leopard, Tiger and Panther.
