Rebels' Top Receiver Still Suspended
Suspended UNLV wide receiver Phillip Payne will remain on the bench for now, according to head coach Bobby Hauck. At his weekly press conference on Monday, Hauck described Payne’s situation as “fluid.” Payne was left home from last Saturday’s game at West Virginia after he reportedly posted Twitter messages critical of UNLV’s football program and the coaching staff. Hauck said he won’t “discipline guys in the press,” but asked whether Payne will play in this Saturday’s game at Colorado State, he told reporters “I wouldn’t hold your breath.” Without Payne, the Rebels were blown out 49-10 last Saturday, dropping their record to 1-5. Payne, a junior from Western High School, leads the team with 23 receptions for 389 yards on the season.
