Edwards Plays Role in Jets Win
Just days after he was arrested for DUI, Braylon Edwards caught a 67-yard touchdown pass to help lead the Jets past the Dolphins 31-23 on Sunday Night Football from Miami. Jets QB Mark Sanchez fired three touchdown passes, with two going to tight end Dustin Keller in addition to Edwards’ scoring grab. Edwards didn’t start the game as part of his punishment for the DUI arrest earlier in the week, but he entered the game midway through the first half, and his TD catch came in the second quarter after the Dolphins had taken a 17-14 lead. With the Jets leading 24-23, LaDainian Tomlinson’s one-yard touchdown run with 1:55 to play gave New York some cushion and the defense picked off Dolphins QB Chad Henne in the end zone in the last minute to preserve the win. Sanchez finished 15-28 for 256 yards, three TDs and no interceptions as the Jets moved to 2-1. Henne was 26-44 for 363 yards, two TDs and the one key pick as Miami fell to 2-1. The Dolphins’ Brandon Marshall caught 10 passes for 166 yards in the loss.
