New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush reportedly suffered a broken right leg during Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Bush was injured during the fourth quarter while trying to recover his own fumble while fielding a punt. As Bush fell on the football, a 49ers player crashed into his right leg. He tried to leave the field under his own power, but had to be helped to the sideline and was carted off the field. After the game, Bush said “I tried to recover (the ball) and someone took my leg out. I don’t know what happened or how it happened, I just got taken out.” Bush later left Candlestick Park on crutches.
The Saints said Bush was scheduled to undergo tests today, but the New Orleans Times-Picayune cited a league source this morning as saying he suffered a fractured right fibula.
Bush finished Monday’s game with five carries for four yards rushing, and four receptions for 30 yards with a touchdown in the Saints’ 25-22 victory.
