The 2010 NFL season officially gets underway tonight with the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints hosting Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. The game is a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game at the Superdome, in which the Saints were victorious 31-28 in overtime. The Saints are again led by a high-powered offense featuring All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees, who led the league with a 109.6 QB rating last season. The Vikings are hoping for another deep postseason run with future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre back in the fold for a 20th NFL season. Running back Adrian Peterson led the league with 18 touchdowns last year.
The game is also big for the Las Vegas sports books. As of this morning, the Saints were a 5 1/2 point favorite at the Las Vegas Hilton, although MGM Grand had them at -4 1/2. The total is 48 or 48 1/2 depending on where you go around town. The Hilton is also offering several prop bets on the game, including total completions for Brett Favre (22, over/under minus-110), total rushing yards for Adrian Peterson (94, over/under minus-110), and total passing yards for Drew Brees (287.)
