Former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has been denied eligibility by the NCAA to play for Mississippi this season. The school says it plans to appeal the decision. A review of the appeal could take up to a week. Masoli enrolled in Mississippi’s graduate program earlier this month in hopes of competing as a walk-on this fall. He did not have to sit out a year per NCAA transfer rules because he already obtained his undergraduate degree. A two-year starter for Oregon, Masoli was dismissed from the team last spring after pleading guilty to second-degree burglary. The burglary charge came after he’d already been suspended for the 2010 season by Oregon. Masoli is coming off a standout season for the Ducks, in which he led the team to the Rose Bowl and threw for 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns, while rushing for another 668 yards and 13 scores.
