mosque Obama stands up for Ground Zero mosque

President Barack Obama on Friday endorsed a controversial plan to build a mosque and Islamic center just blocks from Ground Zero in Manhattan, despite the strong objections of conservatives, civic groups and those who lost loved ones in the September 11 attacks.

“Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground,” Obama said at a White House dinner celebrating the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. “But let me be clear: as a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances.”

So funny that it takes a left-wing President to stand up for conservative values. As much as I don’t like the idea, at the end of the day, it is a private landowners right to sell their property to the buyer they choose. Case closed. I don’t want my government getting into the business of telling private entities who they can and cannot sell to.

Remember, the conservative principle is LESS government involvement in the private sector.

  2. Dan says:

This President is not standing up for Conservative values, and any moron who believes that must be a democrat or an “M” word. When does a democrat stand up for the rights of landowners? Never, unless it involves humiliating America somehow, or empowering the leftists.

Obama is standing up for America’s enemies. He is in your face saying “Fukk You New York” and “Fukk you America.”

This is a deliberate effort for the “M” words to mark their territory like a dog does when it pisses-on-your -lawn. The “M” words killed 3,000 Americans next door and they want to show the world that THEY rule New York.

Also, idiot, the conservative principle is not about “LESS government involvement in the private sector.” Fool. It is about the Constitution and about limiting the federal government’s power. Try reading the Constitution sometime,

This President is a traitor! Pure and simple. He hates America and he is helping the “M” words destroy New York.

    1. Mark Sommers says:

that first post has it dead on

i also dont want the government telling ppl who they can and cant sell their property to

besides, all muslims arent our enemy – thats like saying all conservatives are tea-bagging birther lunatics

there are actually thoughtful conservatives out there who recognize hypocracy when they see it – either you are for government telling ppl who they can sell their property to, or you are not. we dont allow the free sale of property, with EXCEPTIONS for when dan gets upset about it

and seriously, if you cannot make your argument without lobbing insults or vulgarities, then you prove that you have not argument

      1. Jay F says:

Can someone explain to me the difference between “LESS government involvement in the private sector” and “limiting the federal government’s power.” ??

Sounds like six of one, half dozen of another.

Of course a mosque a few blocks from ground zero is offensive to me, but as a true conservative (fiscal, not religious), just because I find it offensive doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be. I believe in the Constitutionally protected freedoms of all, not just the folks I agree with.

We are a nation of laws, not whims.
