Governor Offers Compromise Over Ground Zero Mosque
(New York, NY) — The developer of the controversial Ground Zero mosque is rejecting a compromise from New York Governor David Paterson.
The governor says he’s willing to seek suitable state property for the proposed Islamic community center and mosque that is farther away from the site. But developer Sharif El-Gamal says he has not intention of taking the governor up on his offer.
Meanwhile, a new advertisement opposing the proposed mosque near Ground Zero is creating more controversy. The ad being displayed on a number of New York City buses shows an airplane about to crash into one of the World Trade Center buildings.
