Displaced Charity Seeks Help
Opportunity Village is asking for help in the wake of a fire that destroyed its downtown thirft store earlier this month. This is tragic because not only are they losing much-needed revenue to support their programs, but 40 people with disabilities temporarily have no place to go to work.
Linda Smith of Opportunity Village says the immediate need is for a new location in which to house the thrift store. They require a 30,000 sq. ft. building with a loading dock, located on the bus transit line.
Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities. They provide them with vocational training, employment and social recreation services that make their lives more productive and interesting.
