— Renovation work on a new solar panel production plant will begin this year in North Las Vegas. Not only will it mean millions of dollars for the city, county and state, but it also means much-needed jobs.
California-based Amonix, Inc., according to KLAS-TV, signed a lease agreement this morning to take over a building located at Pecos and Lone Mountain will employ 278 people for the manufacturing of solar power panels. Amonix, Inc. took advantage of the nearly $6 million tax credit in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“The nation needs to add energy-generation assets, and solar has come down to a point in cost where it’s starting to be competitive to fossil fuels, so there’s right now great demand for solar energy, said CEO Brian Robertson, Amonix, Inc.
